# Troubleshooting

Most SecurQbit issues come down to a handful of causes. Work through the relevant section below. If nothing helps, contact the team via the Support page on [securqbit.com](https://securqbit.com).

## The app won't connect

Symptoms: the status stays on **Connecting** or returns to **Disconnected**.

1. **Check your base connection.** Turn the VPN off and confirm the device has working internet. If it doesn't, fix that first.
2. **Switch servers.** Choose **Auto (fastest)** or pick a different location. See [Connecting to a Server](/connecting).
3. **Give obfuscation a moment.** Obfuscation is always on at full strength and adapts on its own, but on a restrictive network it may take a couple of reconnection attempts to settle on a shape that gets through. See [Firewall Bypass & Obfuscation](/firewall-bypass).
4. **Toggle the connection.** Disconnect, wait a few seconds, and reconnect to force a fresh key exchange.
5. **Restart the app**, then the device, if the state seems stuck.

## Slow speeds

Symptoms: connected, but throughput feels low.

1. **Use Auto (fastest)** or switch to a **nearby server** — distance is the biggest latency factor.
2. **Don't blame obfuscation.** It stays on automatically and its network-aware optimization already keeps overhead low on open networks — there's no setting to lower. See [Performance & Networks](/performance).
3. **Test your base speed** with the VPN off — if it's already slow, the network is the limit, not SecurQbit.
4. **Avoid stacking** other VPNs or proxies.
5. **Use [split tunneling](/split-tunneling)** to keep large background transfers off the tunnel.

## Behind a strict firewall

Symptoms: other VPNs are blocked, or SecurQbit connects then stalls on a corporate, campus, or filtered network.

1. Reconnect using **Auto (fastest)** — obfuscation is always on at full strength and adapts to the network on its own.
2. If a specific server fails, try another location — some paths are filtered more heavily than others.
3. Give it a few attempts; the adaptive reshaping may need a moment to find a shape that gets through.

> **Tip:** Full-strength obfuscation is exactly what SecurQbit is built for, and it's always on. The modest overhead is worth it when the alternative is no connection at all.

## No internet while the VPN appears off

Symptoms: no connectivity at all, even though SecurQbit shows as disconnected.

1. **Reconnect** SecurQbit; once **Connected**, traffic resumes.
2. **Android:** if you enabled **"Block connections without VPN"** under system VPN settings, that blocks all traffic until a tunnel is up. Adjust it there if you need connectivity without the VPN.
3. Confirm your base connection works with SecurQbit fully closed.

## Reinstalling the VPN profile

Symptoms: the app can't bring up the tunnel, or the VPN profile looks corrupted or missing.

### iOS

1. Go to **Settings > General > VPN & Device Management**.
2. Remove the **SecurQbit** VPN configuration.
3. Open SecurQbit and tap **Connect** — approve the prompt to reinstall the profile.

### Android

1. Open **Settings > Network & internet > VPN**.
2. Remove **SecurQbit** if a stale entry exists.
3. Reopen the app and reconnect to recreate the configuration.

> **Note:** Reinstalling the VPN profile does not affect your account or subscription. See [Installing SecurQbit](/installation) if you need to reinstall the app itself.
